Apart from that.
Also, my next DD is going to have auto dimming mirrors, fuck people who use their brights on the interstate.

Your e92 doesn’t have an auto dimming mirror?
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:25 |

In an M3, I assumed that was basically a dash-mounted dome light, part of the normal illumination.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:25 |

Also surprised by this.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:26 |

That’s not the M3 though. Hopefully that means the fix will be cheaper.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:26 |

My guess is thermostat or water pump.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:27 |

That’s the 3.
The M3 goes: money, lol.

FWIW, I *hated* the auto dimming OSRV mirrors on my wife’s X3 - they were always too damn dark at night.
To the point where, if my next car is a BMW with those things, I will swap them out for plain mirrors.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:28 |

Auto dimming are overrated. Invest in rear foglights or even a rear-mounted LED bar!
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:28 |

It does not. M3 does, but then again it’s got 10k in options on it.

My brakes started squeaking...they are almost 7 years old, so likely time for new ones.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:29 |

Nah, they don’t tell you when those break. Source: thermostat when bad in the M3 and I had no idea.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:30 |

Its just telling you that you need to have a professional make sure the engine is still there.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:31 |

The rears on mine got replaced at 15k miles.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:31 |

Dimming side mirrors would be awesome. My rear-view automatically dims, which I admit is quite nice!
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:31 |

The ones on my M3 are pretty fantastic.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:32 |

Oh, sorry. They all look alike. ;)
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:32 |

They are. I believe even my dads Buick had an auto dimming drivers side mirror.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:32 |

Yes, get another M3. Wait, you said cheaper.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:33 |

Woah...I am rapidly approaching 70k. But I am currently looking at Porche Macan GTS...I feel like I am cheating
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:34 |

I see you have the oil temp gauge and not the fuel economy gauge. Lucky.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:36 |

I believe all e92s came with the temperature gauge. Could be worse could have nothing there like my 128i.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:39 |

I kind of assumed that stuff had become standard equipment.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:40 |

I don’t think so, unless it’s changed recently.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:42 |

Hmm, wonder if they’re different or just different preferences.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:44 |

I’m sure he will get another one eventually. There’s a pattern there...
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:47 |
|
Why are you photographing your gauges at over 80 miles per hour?
![]() 02/02/2018 at 11:49 |

A lot of times I found thermostat codes before the customer fucked up the car. And if you’re lucky the thermostat will break the right way and stay stuck closed.
But the water pump code doesn’t help much because it just stops working.

Nothing would be better than a needle point ping to the 30-12mpg you’re getting.

NO! That just means they are good.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:04 |

Sigh....no...
I go with the tried and true method of wrenching and engineering going, “Its never done that before...I better check...”
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:13 |
|
And yet you encourage us all to look at BMW’s?
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:18 |
|
It’s a sensor problem, it only seems to happen when the car is really cold. It’s gone back off.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:20 |

What year was it?
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:29 |

It’s gonna effin explode and you know it.

I put 2000 miles on an explorer running on 5 cylinders. Sometimes you just gotta limp along. I don’t think anything is actually wrong.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:35 |

The weirdest part of that story is that it was a 4-cylinder Explorer....
![]() 02/02/2018 at 12:48 |

2015. I’m probably a little picky about seeing things - I would rather be blinded occasionally than feel like I might miss something in the dark
![]() 02/02/2018 at 13:14 |

Amen on the rear fog lights.
![]() 02/02/2018 at 14:15 |

Well, if you know better than German engineers, I guess you better do some wrenching, lol. I was surprised when they never mentioned during that video that they also do it when worn out, but I’m not as smart as Porsche.

6 years of no squeaking = Great
Sudden Squeaking = Worrying
I think that is correct German Math :)
